About this service
Third-party insurance covers your legal liability to other people — injury to them or damage to their property — arising from the use of your vehicle. It does not cover damage to, or theft of, your own vehicle.
Third-party liability cover is a requirement of motor vehicle law in Pakistan for vehicles used on public roads. It is the basic level of cover and costs less than comprehensive insurance, which is why some owners of older vehicles choose it.
- We request third-party quotations from licensed insurers
- We explain the limits of liability and what is not covered
- We show you a comprehensive option next to it, if you want to compare
The policy is issued by the insurer you choose, on that insurer's terms. AsaanTax.pk assists with quotations and paperwork only.
Documents required
- Copy of your CNIC
- Vehicle registration book or card
- Make, model, model year and engine capacity
- Whether the vehicle is for private or commercial use
- Previous policy, if any
Exact requirements depend on your case. Your officer will confirm the final list after reviewing your details.
How it works
- Fill in the quotation form with your vehicle and contact details.
- We request quotations for your vehicle from licensed insurance and takaful companies.
- We share the quotations with you so that you can compare cover, deductibles, conditions and premium.
- You choose the option you prefer. The insurer completes its own checks, such as a vehicle inspection, and issues the policy in your name.
Frequently asked questions
Does third-party insurance cover my own car?
No. It covers your liability to others. For accidental damage to, or theft of, your own car you need comprehensive cover.
Is third-party insurance compulsory?
Motor vehicle law in Pakistan requires third-party liability cover for vehicles on public roads. Carry the certificate in the vehicle.
Can I upgrade to comprehensive later?
Usually yes, subject to the insurer's inspection of the vehicle and its terms at that time.
