Partnership / AOP Registration

Partnership deed, firm registration and AOP NTN.

  • Fee: Quotation required
  • Online, anywhere in Pakistan

About this service

A partnership is formed when two or more people agree to run a business together and share its profit. For tax purposes a firm is treated as an association of persons (AOP) with its own NTN and its own tax return.

Setting one up properly involves three things:

  • Partnership deed on stamp paper, recording capital, profit-sharing ratio, roles and what happens if a partner leaves
  • Registration of the firm with the provincial Registrar of Firms
  • NTN for the AOP through FBR's IRIS portal, followed by a bank account in the firm's name

We collect the terms from the partners, prepare the documents for signature and guide you through each office. The deed itself is drafted and reviewed by suitably qualified professionals.

Documents required

  • CNIC copies of all partners
  • Proposed name of the firm
  • Business address with a paid utility bill and rent agreement or ownership proof
  • Agreed terms: capital of each partner, profit-sharing ratio and roles
  • CNIC copies of two witnesses
  • Mobile number and email for the firm

Exact requirements depend on your case. Your officer will confirm the final list after reviewing your details.

How it works

  1. Send the inquiry form on this page with your contact details.
  2. We review your case, list the documents needed and confirm the fee with you.
  3. The partnership deed is drafted and shared with all partners for review and signature.
  4. The firm's registration is applied for with the Registrar of Firms, and the NTN is applied for on FBR's IRIS portal.
  5. You receive the registration documents and we explain the firm's tax filings.

Frequently asked questions

Is it compulsory to register a partnership firm?

The Partnership Act does not make registration compulsory, but an unregistered firm faces legal limitations — for example in enforcing its claims in court — and banks usually ask for registration. We recommend registering.

How is a partnership taxed?

The firm files its own income tax return as an AOP and pays tax on its profit under current FBR rules. Each partner also reports their share in their own return in the way the law requires.

Can partners be added or removed later?

Yes. The deed is amended and the change is recorded with the Registrar of Firms and in the firm's FBR profile.
