Previous Years Tax Filing
File returns for earlier tax years that were missed.
- Fee: Quotation required
- Online, anywhere in Pakistan
- Filed only after your approval
About this service
If you missed one or more tax years, the returns can usually still be filed through IRIS as late returns. Gaps matter: they can lead to FBR notices, cause problems with visas and bank loans, and make your wealth statement difficult to reconcile.
We rebuild each year in order — income, tax deducted and the assets you held at each year end — so that every return connects properly with the next.
- Returns and wealth statements prepared year by year
- Tax already deducted in each year identified and adjusted where allowed
- Clear advice, before filing, on any penalty or surcharge the law provides for
Your Active Taxpayers List status depends on the latest tax year, so we normally bring that year up to date as well.
Documents required
- Copy of your CNIC
- Your NTN / FBR IRIS registration details
- Salary certificates or income details for each missed year
- Bank statements for each missed year
- Assets and liabilities at the end of each year
- Any notices received from FBR
Exact requirements depend on your case. Your officer will confirm the final list after reviewing your details.
How it works
- Complete the short online application (about 5 minutes) and upload your documents.
- A tax officer reviews your details, confirms the fee with you and tells you if anything is missing.
- We prepare the return for each missed year and share the drafts with you.
- You review the prepared returns and approve them.
- Only after your approval are they filed with FBR through the IRIS portal. We then send you the FBR acknowledgments.
Frequently asked questions
Can I file returns for old years?
In most cases yes. Late returns can be submitted through IRIS. We check each year and tell you if any limitation applies.
Will I have to pay a penalty?
The law provides for penalties for late filing. Whether one applies, and how it is calculated, depends on your case and on current FBR rules. We explain this before you decide to file.
Will filing old returns make me a filer?
The Active Taxpayers List is based on the latest tax year. Filing older years fixes your record; filing the latest year (with the ATL surcharge if it is late) is what restores filer status.
