About this service
If a return that has already been filed contains a mistake — income left out, a wrong figure, a bank account or asset that was not declared — the law allows it to be revised, subject to conditions and time limits. In some cases approval from the Commissioner is required, and the request is made through IRIS.
We compare the filed return with your correct information, prepare the revised return and wealth statement, and draft the reason for revision.
- Differences between the filed and the correct figures identified
- Additional tax, if any, calculated before you decide
- Approval request prepared where FBR rules require one
- Wealth statement revised so that later years stay consistent
Documents required
- Copy of your CNIC
- The return and wealth statement that were filed
- Correct figures and supporting documents for what needs to change
- A short note of why the revision is needed
- Any FBR notice connected with the return
Exact requirements depend on your case. Your officer will confirm the final list after reviewing your details.
How it works
- Complete the short online application (about 5 minutes) and upload your documents.
- A tax officer reviews your details, confirms the fee with you and tells you if anything is missing.
- We prepare the revised return and, where required, the approval request, and share the drafts with you.
- You review the revised return and approve it.
- Only after your approval is it submitted to FBR through the IRIS portal. We then send you the acknowledgment.
Frequently asked questions
Can I revise my return at any time?
No. A revision is allowed within the time and conditions set by law, and some revisions need the Commissioner's approval. We check which rule applies to your return.
Does a revised return lead to an audit?
Nobody can promise how FBR selects cases. A return that matches your real income and assets is always safer than one you know is wrong.
Can I revise only my wealth statement?
Generally yes. A wealth statement can be revised to correct assets, liabilities or expenses, as per current FBR rules.
